Oh, goodness, where to start! This past week has seen three big milestones that I'm excited to tell you about.

First, I'm thrilled to say that my Kickstarter pre-launch has crossed the 42 follower mark, which means we are now officially cleared for launch! And... AND... I finally recorded a campaign video, which you can go check out on the pre-launch page now! (Be sure to click the "Notify me on launch" button if you've not done that yet, so you get notified as soon as we launch.)

And speaking of launch... that will happen Tuesday, October 27th. The Kickstarter will run for three weeks, ending Tuesday, November 17th, at 9PM (Eastern).

It's happening!

Now, I promised THREE milestones, so let's not dilly-dally.

Last week I completed the final scene drafts and edits on a short story that I've been working on since 2019 (!!). I put it on the back burner when I decided to prioritize my meager writing time toward finishing The Severed Sky. Recently, with the novel finished and the new short-short story The Weight of Stars written and made freely available for both free and paid members, I could finally use my creative writing time to finish the story that I am now calling Crossing Over.

Cover image is letters on a blue field. Title "Crossing Over" in stretched, exaggeratedly large decorative creme-colored font with seemingly random segments or inserts in pale orange or blue. The author's name "Matthew Rasnake" sits at the very bottom in a bold, block font, the same creme color as the title.

Crossing Over is the story of Drew Gardner, a wealthy, narcissist inventor and misanthrope whose perfectly tailored life begins to rapidly unravel.

It is the first completed work in my planned short story collection—tentatively titled Bigger—which is, at the moment, somewhat nebulous and definitely unscheduled.

I originally serialized the first four scenes of this story on my old Patreon page, which then migrated to my website alongside that membership program (which you can join!). In the coming weeks, I'll update those original posts and complete the serialization of the story for paid members, then release an ebook of Crossing Over for sale on my website.

With all this talk of membership, I'd be remiss not to give a giant shout-out to those lovely, patient folks who provide such wonderful encouragement to me in this endeavor. You give me hope that my work is reaching people, touching people, and just maybe, making someone's day a little brighter. I can't thank you enough for being here.

Now, if you're still here, I hope you'll take a minute to go check out my awkward campaign video and click "Notify me on launch" if you've been waiting for just the right time. After that, I hope you'll consider joining the crew at one of the paid tiers to get early access to the serial release of Crossing Over.

Oh, one more thing!

Speaking of early access, I would love to get a few volunteers to beta read Crossing Over and provide their feedback on the story. I'll take up to five, who'll get an advanced ebook copy of the story to read in exchange for answering a few questions/reporting on their feelings about the story. If you're interested just reply or drop a comment to let me know. If you're in the first five, I'll send you a link to get your copy.

Thank you all for being on this journey with me.

Now, there are two weeks until launch—let’s do this!
